Bird Walk Virtual Tour

Bird walks are fun and an opportunity for new and more experienced birders to learn about birds from others. If you're planning to lead a bird hike, try some of the techniques experienced leaders use to make sure their hikes are successful.

Malkolm at Dauphin Island
Malkolm

We've been following Malkolm Boothroyd during his Bird Year, catching up on the latest adventures, tracking his journey from Canada to Florida, and helping him raise funds for bird conservation. Malkolm's latest stop was Dauphin Island's International Migratory Bird Day celebration, where he was the guest speaker.

Participants in Dauphin Island Bird Sanctuaries' IMBD event joined Malkolm in an all day bird-a-thon count and evening presentation. Funds for bird conservation were raised, and Malkolm's bird list hit 487 species.

Save Our Boreal Birds
SaveOurBorealBirds

Billions of birds fly north every year to breed in Canada's vast Boreal Forest, a 1.4 billion acre ecosystem of forest, wetlands, lakes, and ponds. Many of these birds migrate south to the United States and Mexico, and some long-distance troopers make it to Central and South America! You can help preserve the breeding habitat for these birds by signing the Save Our Boreal Birds petition.

Hosting an IMBD event at your zoo, nature center, or school? Share the message with your audience! If you would like flyers, posters, or any other information about the Save Our Boreal Birds campaign, please contact us at info@saveourborealbirds.org

IMBD is Green

The title says it all. Learn how IMBD helps the environment by using recycled materials.

Offer an IMBD Spring Bird Count

Most IMBD events include bird walks and now you may share the importance of how to collect data while you're out introducing the public to birds. Submit your bird walk or spring count data to IMBD, and we'll share information about sightings from North to South.
