PROJECT WILDBIRD is the inaugural study of the WBFI Research Foundation, a not-for-profit charitable foundation promoting the scientific study of wild bird feeding. From September 2005 through August 2008, PROJECT WILDBIRD will scientifically study the feeds and feeders preferred by birds in different eco-regions and seasons.

We have a variety of research programs in Belize and operate a small research facility along the Rio Grande in Salineno, Texas. Research focuses on Red-billed Pigeons, Muscovy Ducks, Brown Jays and (at upriver sites) the White-collared Seedeater. The site can be visited from October-March when winter residents (Pat and Gale Dewind) live at the site. During the remainder of the year it can be visited for birding or research purposes with advance notice.

The Center is dedicated to finding cooperative conservation solutions for birds and the natural world through science and education. The scope of projects ranges from the reintroduction of Southern Bald Eagles, intensive field research on declining grassland birds, and raptor surveys to the use of NASA thermal-imaging cameras to study incubation temperature.

Our mission is to protect and conserve avian populations through research, education and advocacy. Bird banding is conducted at four biological stations: the Hueston Woods Biological Station (HWBS) located in Hueston Woods State Park in Butler/Preble Counties, Ohio the Miami University Bird Observatory (MUBO) located on the campus of Miami Univweairy in Pfeffer Woods, Oxford, OH, the Clifford Bird Observatory (CBO) located on the picturesque hilltop of Mount St. Joseph, OH and the Montecarlo Biological Station (MBS) in the cloud forest of El Cielo Biosphere Reserve, Tamaulipas, Mexico.
